The market capitalization (market cap) of the top 10 companies of the Sensex increased collectively by Rs 5,13,532.5 crore last week amid widespread positive market sentiment. During this period, the market capitalization of banks was seen to be the biggest increase. Last week, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 4,445.86 points or 9.60 per cent. On Friday, the Sensex has also crossed the 51,000 mark for some time.
Among the Sensex companies, HDFC Bank’s market capitalization rose the most by Rs 1,13,516.92 crore to Rs 8,79,735.51 crore. The market valuation of State Bank of India increased by Rs 99,063.86 crore to Rs 3,50,781.86 crore. On Friday, SBI stock rose strongly. SBI shares rose 11 per cent due to improvement in the quality of assets of the bank.
In the week under review, the valuation of HDFC increased by Rs 61,836.61 crore to Rs 4,89,877.33 crore and ICICI Bank increased by Rs 53,606.61 crore to Rs 4,24,379.96 crore. Kotak Mahindra Bank’s market capitalization also increased by Rs 53,395.91 crore to Rs 3,92,741.04 crore. The market valuation of Reliance Industries increased by Rs 51,254.37 crore to Rs 12,19,708.39 crore.
The market capitalization of Bajaj Finance increased by Rs 48,375.71 crore and reached Rs 3,33,758.06 crore. The valuation of Tata Consultancy Services increased by Rs 16,942.01 crore to Rs 11,85,021.85 crore.
