India’s largest airline company Indigo has suffered a huge loss in the last quarter of the financial year 2020-21 and the company’s consolidated net loss has increased further. Indigo’s parent company InterGlobe Aviation Ltd’s net loss has increased to Rs 1,147 crore in Q4.
Whereas, in the same quarter last year, the airline company had a loss of Rs 871 crore and in the previous quarter i.e. Q3 of FY21, the company’s net loss was Rs 620 crore. The company’s operating revenue declined by 25% to Rs 6223 crore in the March quarter from Rs 8299 crore in Q4 last year.
In the entire financial year 2020-21 i.e. FY21, the company’s loss increased by close to 2400% on a year-on-year basis. The company’s net loss in FY21 stood at Rs 5806 crore as against only Rs 233 crore in FY20. While the company’s revenue fell 59% to Rs 14,640 crore in FY21.
The company’s loss before tax in Q4 of FY21 stood at Rs 1157 crore as against Rs 1290 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s EBITDA stood at Rs 648 crore in the March quarter, while its EBITDA margin stood at 10.4%.
Indigo received Rs 4974 crore from flight tickets in Q4. That is, it declined by 30.2%. While the company’s ancillary revenue fell 17.2% year-on-year to Rs 890 crore.
