Finance Desk – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has questioned Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat and TV actress Pooja Banerjee. They were asked about their promotional work for a betting website called Magicwin, which is linked to a money laundering investigation.

This website, owned by people from Pakistan, was involved in illegal activities like broadcasting cricket matches without permission.

Both actresses had promoted Magicwin. Mallika Sherawat answered the ED’s questions through email and a representative, while Pooja Banerjee met with the ED in person. They are not being accused of any wrongdoing but were involved in advertising for the website.

The investigation found that Magicwin pretended to be a gaming site but was actually for betting, showing games that took place in other countries. The ED found that the money from this betting site went through many fake accounts and some was turned into cryptocurrency or sent illegally to Dubai.

The winnings were paid to players through complicated routes to hide the true source. The website made a lot of profit, over half of what players deposited.
