New Delhi: Rising coronavirus cases and subsequent lockdowns in key export markets dragged India’s merchandise exports lower by 8.74 per cent in November, official data showed on Tuesday. Mumbai: There is unlikely to be any change in the inflation target band or framework given to India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) that is due for a review next year, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das told in an interview. “I am not aware of any such thinking to change the framework. New Delhi: The Tax Department will actively conduct consultation prior to issuance of show-cause notices to evaders and assessees of GST so as to facilitate easier resolution of tax disputes and prevent increasing number of litigation. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has clarified that such consultations with assessee, prior to issuance of show-cause notice (SCN) in case of demands of duty is above Rs 50 lakh (except for preventive/offence related SCNs), is mandatory and shall be done by the SCN-issuing authority. Bangalore: Retail consumers in India slowed gold purchases this week put off by higher local prices, while top consumer China saw a slight pick-up in demand as jewellers stocked up going into year-end.
