San Francisco: Texas and nine other US states have filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, accusing it of monopolising or attempting to monopolise products and services used by advertisers and publishers in online-display advertising. The lawsuit filed on Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas alleges that Google entered into an anticompetitive agreement with Facebook to boost its online advertising business. This agreement led to making misrepresentations to users and customers, and suppressing competition, according to the complaint. New Delhi: Shipping 21 million units, India’s smartphone market registered 42 per cent year-over-year (YoY) growth in October driven by multiple online sale festivals and continuing pent up demand from the third quarter of the year, industry tracker International Data Corporation (IDC) said on Thursday. New Delhi: Domestic rating agency ICRA Ratings predicts that the technical slowdown in the country’s economy will end in the fourth quarter of the current financial year 2020-21. The ICRA has projected a 7.8 percent fall in gross domestic product (GDP) in the current financial year. In the second quarter (July-September) of the current financial year, the Indian economy has fallen by 7.5 percent. New Delhi: The State Bank of India in its latest research report raised India’s growth projection to (-)7.4 per cent for FY21 from previously expected (-) 10.9 per cent. The report said the revised GDP estimates are based on SBI ‘Nowcasting Model’ with 41 high frequency indicators associated with industry activity, service activity, and global economy. Brussels: Facebook Inc on Tuesday said it hopes new draft rules by the European Union aimed at curbing powers of big U.S. companies could set boundaries for Apple Inc, its latest volley in an ongoing feud. New Delhi: Rising coronavirus cases and subsequent lockdowns in key export markets dragged India’s merchandise exports lower by 8.74 per cent in November, official data showed on Tuesday.
