Top 4 things you should nail at as a Startup CEO

A chief executive officer or CEO is the most senior corporate, executive, or administrative officer who is in charge of the company’s management. CEOs usually report to the organization’s board of directors and their main role is to achieve company’s objectives or outcomes. Typically, CEOs have a technical degree in management, science, engineering or law.

Being a Chief Executive Officer or CEO of a startup company is not any rocket science. It means it is neither that complicated nor that easy. Here we share some top things you can do as a startup CEO:

    1) Provide direction:
Improvise your startup company’s mission in such a way that you can pitch it to anyone in under two minutes. The more clearer your mission statement, the better.
Communicate your roadmap of company’s success to your team members. Mission and roadmap together provide a clear direction to everyone related to the company.
Ensure you update your direction once in every three months.

    2) Build your team:
Hiring and developing a team are two different things. You may have recruited the top talent but if they don’t agree or relate to your goals, then it’s of no use. Shape your team culture in such a way that the best argument wins. If you think you don’t have the right people, don’t hesitate to show them the door early.

    3) Have a structure in place:
Your team should be like a family who is with you in both success and failure. Yes, you read it right! A startup is like a second home and its team members are like a family who are there to support you to achieve your goals. Hence, clearly establish roles and empower your team to take the right decisions at the right time in your presence or absence.

    4) Take responsibilities:
Some work is meant to be done only by the CEO. You don’t delegate what tasks are meant for you. Like fundraising and stakeholder management are your lookout. If there are any problems within your team, talk to them in a private space. Do not publicly humiliate them or pinpoint their mistakes. Greatest leaders in the history were those who knew how to balance humanity and strategies. So, take the inspiration to be one of them!
