    Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Monday advanced by 228.46 pts to close at 52,328.51 following gains in Utilities, Energy, Power and Telecom stocks.

    The Nifty too rose 81.40 pts to 15,751.65.

    The day opened in green, as the Sensex went up by 123 pts to 52,231.38. During the day it surged 278 pts to 52,378.69, days high, before closing at 52,328.51, up by 228.46 pts from its previous close.

    The sensex registered days high and low at 52,378.69 and 52,054.76 pts respectively.

    The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,773.45 sand 15,678.10 pts respectively.

    The sectoral indices like Utilities, Energy, Oil and Gas, Power and Telecom lifted the market. In scrips, Powergrid, NTPC Ultracemco, Reliance Industries and IndusInd Bank went up while Bajaj finance, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC and SBI declined that capped from further gains, broker informed.
