The oil to telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries is now expanding its retail footprint and after a successful pilot run across areas in Mumbai region, the company has launched its JioMart service across cities. Customers can now visit the company’s newly launched website jiomart.com that currently caters in the areas of staples, fruits and vegetables, dairy and bakery, snacks and branded foods, beverages, personal care, home care and baby care. As of now, mobile app for the service is not available.
While the list of cities currently being serviced by the company has not been confirmed, one can simply punch in his or her pincode where one requires the delivery of items to make sure whether his location area is serviceable or not by JioMart. Upon checking the pincodes from various metro cities it is known that service is available in most metros including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
Jiomart is an online grocery shopping portal that is powered by the company’s Reliance Fresh and Reliance Smart store. Also, the company’s reliancesmart.in redirects to jiomart.com.
The company for the payment currently offers only netbanking, debit-credit card options. In case if the order value is less than Rs. 750, the company will charge delivery fee of Rs. 25.
In April, the company rolled out its Whatsapp business account, which users can add to their contact list and place order. The Whatsapp service is currently limited to few of the select pincodes.
Through, the new online venture, RIL aims to merge its both offline and online commerce by not only strengthening its online business through procurement of inventory from its Fresh and Smart outlets but also coming up with hyperlocal ‘Reliance Smart Points’.
