New Delhi: Demand for private vehicles is expected to rise in major auto makers such as Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Toyota and Tata Motors due to fear of Corona virus and distance-related rules. Companies believe that people will distance themselves from public transport. Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car company, expects demand for low-priced cars to increase after the end of the lockdown.
Shashank Srivastava, executive director (marketing and sales) of the company said, “People will prefer private vehicles over public transport. Many customer surveys have also revealed this. “He said that people would prefer to buy small or low-cost cars for private transport due to softening of economic activities and affecting people’s purchasing power.” Especially the number of customers who are buying cars for the first time will increase. Recently, we are seeing this trend at around 1800 dealers opened across the country.
Srivastava said that it has been seen earlier that in times of crisis, customers favor the established brand. A similar thing was also said by Honda Cars India Senior Vice President and Marketing and Sales Director Rajesh Goyal. He said that people will be more aware of the Covid-19 infection. Therefore, instead of public transport, people will give more importance to private vehicles. This may increase car sales.
