    India’s GST Collection Rises 10% to Rs 1.74 Lakh Crore in August 2024

    Finance Desk – In August 2024, India collected a lot more money from taxes compared to last year. The total money collected from GST, which stands for Goods and Services Tax, was Rs 1,74,962 crore. This is 10% more than what was collected in August 2023, which was Rs 1,59,069 crore.

    After giving back Rs 24,460 crore as refunds, the actual amount India kept was Rs 1,50,501 crore. This is slightly more, about 6.5%, compared to last year during the same time.

    From April to August 2024, the total GST collected was Rs 9,13,855 crore, showing a 10.1% increase from last year. After refunds, the money kept was Rs 8,06,475 crore, which is also more by 10.2% compared to last year.

    Among the states, Maharashtra collected the most GST at Rs 26,367 crore. It was followed by Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana. These figures do not include the tax collected from items brought from other countries.
