New Delhi: Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have poured Rs 8,000 crore into the Indian stock markets in just four trading sessions in June. After the reduction in new cases of Covid-19 and better quarterly results of companies, the confidence of foreign investors towards the Indian markets has increased. Earlier in May, FPIs had withdrawn Rs 2,954 crore and in April, Rs 9,659 crore, according to depository data.

Himanshu Srivastava, Associate Director-Manager Research, Morningstar India, said that going forward, with the improvement in the scenario on the corona virus front and intensification of vaccination campaign, FPI investment is expected to increase further.

According to the data, FPIs invested a net Rs 7,968 crore in the Indian stock markets during June 1 to 4. Before the exit in April, FPIs were continuously investing in Indian stocks. During October 2020 to March 2021, he had invested Rs 1.97 lakh crore in shares. Out of this, net investment of Rs 55,741 crore has happened in the first three months of the current move.

Harsh Jain, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Grow said that foreign investors are now looking more optimistic about investing in the Indian economy after the steady reduction in the Covid-19 infection.
