Amul milk has become expensive. The price of Amul’s milk has been increased by Rs 2 per liter. This increase will be applicable across all brands from July 1. A senior official of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has given this information on Wednesday. He said that the price is being increased after a gap of about one year and seven months, which was necessitated due to the increase in the cost of production.
RS Sodhi, managing director of GCMMF, which sells Amul brand of milk and dairy products, said that the prices of Amul milk will be increased by Rs 2 per liter from tomorrow across India. He further informed that the new prices will be applicable on all brands of Amul milk such as Gold, Taza, Shakti, Tea Special as well as cow and buffalo milk. Sodhi said the increase in the price of milk was necessitated because of the rise in food inflation.
Apart from this, the price of packaging has increased by 30 to 40 percent, he said. The cost of transportation has increased by 30 percent. The cost of energy has increased by 30 per cent, which has increased the cost of inputs.
