New Delhi: Public sector company ONGC has temporarily ceased operations in its two oil rigs in the Arabian Sea after 54 workers were found infected with the corona virus and one employee died, though it affected oil and gas production. Has not happened. The oil rig is a large machine used to drill deep into the earth to extract oil.

Officials said two rigs at the company’s major oil field, Mumbai High, and Basai, on the west coast, were temporarily closed after the Corona virus infection reported. The closure of these rigs will not affect production and the company will continue to produce 1,70,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil and 12 metric million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) of gas from Mumbai High.

Similarly, 60,000 bpd of oil and 32 mmscmd of gas will be produced from Basai. Mumbai High and Basai are the major oil and gas producing regions of India, accounting for about two-thirds of the country’s production. ONGC said in a statement, “Our services have not been affected.
