    Wholesale inflation rate increases

    New Delhi: The rate of wholesale inflation has been recorded at 1.55 per cent in November 2020 due to tightening inward in the market and increasing demand, compared to 0.58 per cent in the same month of the previous year.

    According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry here on Monday, the wholesale inflation rate in October 2020 was 1.48 percent. Due to the Karona epidemic in the current financial year, the retail market demand remained low and the wholesale inflation rate in the period from April to November 2020 has been negative at 0.28 percent. However, this figure was 1.40 percent in the same period of the previous financial year.

    According to the data, the wholesale inflation rate of food items has increased to 4.27 percent in November 2020. It was 5.78 percent in October 2020. During the month under review, the rate of wholesale inflation of primary articles was 2.72 percent and the rate of manufactured products was 2.97 percent. In this month, the rate of fuel and electricity has been negative at 9.87 percent.
