    The stock market fell for the second consecutive day

    Mumbai: BSE Sensex and Nifty50 have closed with a fall for the second consecutive day. The Sensex closed down 0.35 per cent at 52,400 and the Nifty fell 0.24 per cent below 15,700. The market declined due to selling in banking stocks and Reliance. At the close of trading, the Sensex closed down by 182.75 points at 52,386.19 and the Nifty closed at 15,689.80, down by 38.10 points.

    Today only 10 stocks closed with gains on the Sensex, while the remaining 20 stocks closed with a fall. On the other hand, 24 stocks on Nifty50 closed with gains while 26 stocks closed with decline. Talking about the sectoral indices of Nifty, except Nifty FMCG, Nifty Media, Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Realty, all other sector indices closed with a fall. Selling in all banking stocks and heavyweights like Reliance, SBI led the Sensex to fall. Nifty’s midcap and smallcap indices edged higher.

    On BSE Sensex today, Tata Steel was the biggest buy in the shares followed by Bajaj Finserv and Bharti Airtel. Talking about selling, Bajaj Auto, TCS and HDFC Bank were the top sellers on the Sensex.
