London: Tata Steel’s British unit has sought a relief package from the government to deal with the problems that emerged from the Corona virus crisis. If media reports published in Britain are to be believed, the company is expected to ask for a £ 500 million relief package.
Tata Steel owns the UK’s largest steel company, Port Talbot. According to media reports, the company is in touch with the Government of Wales as well as the UK Public Finance Department ‘UK Treasury’. The UK government has introduced the ‘Corona Virus Large Business Intervention Loan Scheme’ (CLBILS) to provide relief to big businessmen.
The company is trying to get a relief package of 500 million pounds under this scheme. A spokesman for the government of Wales said, “He is in constant dialogue with Tata Steel.” He is trying to find out what his needs are to continue working as a major steel company in Wales and the UK. “Tata Steel employs around 8,385 people in the UK.
