New Delhi: The Jeep brand’s parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is once again bringing the vehicle under the name Wagoneer. Recently, the company has showcased the Wagoneer concept. The new Wagoneer will be a more premium, upscale three-row luxury SUV and will be offered in Standard and Grand two avatars. The Wagoneer, which arrived in 1962, was discontinued in 1991. The revived Wagoneer will compete with vehicles such as Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, Chevrolet Tahoe and BMW X7. Currently, the company has only unveiled the Grand Wagoneer concept.
Production of both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer is expected to begin in the first half of 2021 at FCA’s Warren Manufacturing facility in Michigan. The final production model of the vehicle is unlikely to be much different from the concept. The Wagoneer will be FCA’s first full-size three-row SUV after the Commander.
The Wagoneer will be developed on a new platform, designed for IC (Internal Combustion) engines, hybrid and electrified powertrains. There is no official detail regarding the powertrain of the new Wagoneer. Although it is expected that three engine options can be found in it. The first 3.6 liter V-6 hybrid assisted petrol engine, the second 5.7 liter V8 petrol engine and the third 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel engine. Plugin hybrids are also expected. 4 wheel drive will be available as standard. Talking about transmission, the company’s 9 speed automatic gearbox can be given.
Since the Wagoneer will be a luxury SUV, it will get many features. The car is expected to feature a 12.1 inch center touchscreen, 10.3 inch touchscreen with controls for HVAC systems, 12.1 inch fully digital instrument cluster, Uconnect5 connectivity features, McIntosh stereo system with 23 speakers. Expected price Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer can be priced at $ 60,000 and $ 100,00 respectively. Its final model is expected to hit the market by the end of next year.
