    Sensex, Nifty fall for the third straight day

    Mumbai: In yet another volatile trading session, Sensex and Nifty ended in the red for the third straight day, dragged by heavyweight stocks like RIL and HDFC twins. Nifty ended with loss of 0.26% at. 11073, while Sensex came down by 0.34% to settle at 37606.

    Sectorally, Nifty Pharma was the outlier with gains of close to 4% in trade today.

    Also, Nifty IT climbed over 1% during the day, with Infosys hitting a new high in trade today.

    SBI which revealed its quarterly results today settled in the green after a surge in profit by as much as 80%.

    Sun Pharma which also reported its results posted a loss of Rs. 1655.6 crore, owing to a substantial one time loss. Stock settled higher by 4.27% at Rs. 531.75 on the BSE.

    Meanwhile European markets were trading mixed, with German DAX tra ding in the green while CAC traded in the red.
