    Sensex falls 148.82 pts

    Stock market fell for the fourth consecutive day

    Mumbai: Snapping a winning streak of last four sessions, the BSE Sensex on Thursday dropped by 148.82 pts at 40,558.49 as selling was seen in IT, Bankex, Health Care and Auto stocks.

    The Nifty of national stock exchange too fell by 41.20 pts at 11,896.45.

    Rallied by 976 pts in last four sessions, the Sensex opened weak at 40,531.35, fell by 176 pts. During the day it was dropped by 498 pts to 40,309.05, days low before closing at 40,558.49, down by 148.82 pts from its previous close.

    The sensex registered days high and low at 40,721.57 and 40,309.05 pts respectively.

    The Nifty recorded days high and low at

    11,939.55 and 11,823.45 pts respectively.

    The sectoral indices like IT, Bankex, Auto and Technology dragged the market.

    In scrips, IndusInd Bank was a major loser, down by 2.96 pc to Rs 609.70 followed by ICICI Bank, Titan, Infosys and HDFC Bank.

    While, the indices like Telecom, Industrials, Capital Goods and Utilities were advanced, that capped from further declined, broker informed.

    The scrips that moved up were NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and Axis Bank.

    The Mid Cap rose by 0.54 pc and Small Cap by 0.85 pc.

    In 30 scrips, 19 declined while 11 were advanced.
