    Sensex ends flat at 40,625.51 pts

    Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday ended almost steady at 40,625.51, registering a small gain of 31.71 pts on buying in Energy, IT, Technology and Materials stocks.

    The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too moved up by 3.55 pts at 11,934.50.

    The day opened on negative note as the Sensex opened at 40,592.54, easing by one point.

    High volatility was seen during the day, as it advanced by 193 pts to 40,786.82, the days high, before closing at 40,625.51, up by 31.71 pts from its previous close.

    Meanwhile, it fell by 132 pts to 40,461.97, days low.

    The Sensex registered days high and low at 40,786.82 and 40,461.97 pts respectively.

    The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,988.20 and 11,888.90 pts respectively

    The sectoral indices that kept the market positive were Energy, IT, Technology and Materials stocks.

    The scrips that increased were HCL Technologies, Infosys, Kotak Bank, Reliance Industries and Ultracemco.

    While the scrips that declined were Titan, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma and Axis Bank.

    The Mid Cap fell by 0.29 pc and Small Cap by 0.12 pc.
