Benchmark indices ended the day sharply higher for the second day in a row, as global cues continued to remain extremely strong.

Asian markets ended the day higher and European markets were trading with gains, as a risk-on rally across global markets continued. The Sensex ended the day higher by 595 points, gaining almost 5 per cent in just two trading sessions.

Nifty stocks that ended the day higher were Zee Entertainment, Eicher Motors, HeroMoto Corp, Larsen and IndusInd Bank.

Software stocks were slightly weak in trade with both TCS and Infosys among the losers today.

Aditya Birla Fashion rallied 8 per cent even after the company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 146.59 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2020, impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Adani Power fell despite the company saying that Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved setting up of a 1,320 MW thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh.

Among the top losers today in trade from the Nifty were BPCL, ITC and Wipro. Ujjivan Financial Services saw its share price rally over 9 percent after the company’s net profit rose 48.41 percent to Rs 64.04 crore in the quarter ended March 2020.
