    Sensex down by 59 points to close at 38,310

    Mumbai: The Sensex closed at 38,310.49, down by a slight loss of 59.14 points at the close of business on Thursday. The Nifty closed at 11300.45 with a slight decrease of 7.95 points. The biggest gainers on the Sensex were 4.31 per cent and 3.62 per cent in the L&T and Titan stocks, respectively. On the other hand, Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma were the biggest losers, down 2.35 and 2.11 percent respectively.

    The Nifty sectoral index had a mixed trend of rise and fall when trading closed. Auto stocks saw a gain of 1.22 percent, while PSU Bank shares lost 1.01 percent. On Thursday, Tata Motors, L&T, Hindalco, Titan and Infratel became the top gainers on the Nifty, while Sun Pharma, Eicher Motors, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Life and IT were the top losers.

    Trading started in the stock markets on Thursday with an increase. The BSE Sensex opened 87 points higher at 38,456.64 points. At the same time, trading started at 11,334.85 with a gain of 26 points in the NSE Nifty. The Sensex touched a high of 38,516.85 and a low of 38,215.05 in full-day trading.
