    Sensex closed below 52 thousand mark

    Mumbai: Sensex closed below 52 thousand due to fall in financial stocks and heavyweight stocks like Reliance. The Sensex and Nifty 50 closed with a fall at the close of trading. During trading today, the Sensex opened at 52,401.41 points and reached 52,446.92 points. However, it could not handle the momentum and when the Sensex closed trading, it closed at 51,941.64, down 0.64 percent or 333.93 points. Today only 8 stocks closed with gains on the Sensex, while the remaining 22 stocks closed with a fall. All banking stocks fell on the Sensex today.

    Talking about Nifty 50, it closed at 15,635.35, down 0.67 per cent or 104.75 points. On Nifty, 11 stocks including PowerGrid, SBI Life and Titan closed with gains, while the remaining 39 stocks closed down. Talking about sectoral indices, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Pharma closed with a decline.

    On the BSE Sensex, today’s trading day saw the most buying in the shares of PowerGrid. Powergrid closed at Rs 243 with a gain of 3.85 per cent. After PowerGrid, NTPC and Titan were the biggest buyers on the Sensex. NTPC gained 1.72 per cent to Rs 118.15 and Titan 0.98 per cent higher at Rs 1729.60.

    LT and Reliance were the biggest sellers on the Sensex today. LT closed down 1.80 percent at Rs 1518.70 and Reliance declined 1.80 percent at Rs 2174.75. After this, Bajaj Finserv closed down 1.46 percent at Rs 11,560. All financial stocks on the Sensex fell today.
