    Reliance suffers huge loss in market cap

    New Delhi: The market capitalization of eight of the top 10 valued companies in the country increased by Rs 1,25,229.25 crore last week, but Reliance Industry has suffered badly. HDFC, TCS and Bajaj Finance were the biggest gainers. Last week, the BSE Standard Index Sensex gained 861.68 points, or 1.86 percent, in which only Reliance Industries Ltd. And Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Market capitalization declined while the remaining eight companies, including HDFC Bank, Infosys, grew in market cap.

    The market capitalization of Tata Consultancy Services jumped by Rs 29,700.13 crore to Rs 10,74,157.65 crore last week. Bajaj Finance’s market capitalization (MCAP) increased by Rs 24,642.81 crore to Rs 3,16,481.88 crore. HDFC Bank’s market capitalization increased by Rs 15,996.69 crore to Rs 7,77,119.60 crore and Infosys’ MAP rose by Rs 11,376.62 crore to Rs 5,06,777.66 crore.

    Kotak Mahindra Bank’s market cap rose by Rs 5,622.59 crore to Rs 3,85,870.02 crore, while Bharti Airtel’s MCAP increased by Rs 3,573.39 crore to Rs 2,78,560.76 crore. ICICI Bank’s valuation rose by Rs 1,324.16 crore to Rs 3,56,853.67 crore.

    In contrast, Hindustan Unilever’s market capitalization declined by Rs 9,868.14 crore to Rs 5,47,846.03 crore and Reliance Industries’ MCAP declined by Rs 8,463.15 crore to Rs 12,62,975.08 crore. Reliance Industries continued to hold the top position in terms of market position. It was followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Infosys, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance and Bharti Airtel respectively.
