New Delhi: Private trains will start operating in the country by April 2023. The fare of these trains will be compared to flights and AC buses. Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav has given this information on Thursday. Yadav has said that entry of private companies in the operation of passenger trains will give more speed to the operation of trains and technical force to the coach.

VK Yadav also said that coaches need maintenance after covering a distance of four thousand kilometers, which will be needed after 40 thousand kilometers. It will be needed once or twice a month. However, Railways has said that 95 per cent of trains will be run by Indian Railways. Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav said that if any kind of performance is not found by private companies in passenger train operations then they will be punished. He also said that every locomotive will have a power meter and private operators will pay the actual amount of energy consumed. Also they will be encouraged to keep their energy consumption low.
