New Delhi: EY (Ernst & Young) report says that telephone bills and internet charges are going to be expensive in the coming 12-18 months. According to the EY, the rates of all services, including phone calls and the Internet, can be increased twice due to the current structure of the telecom sector not being profitable. EY has predicted this.

EY leader Prashant Singhal said that the immediate increase in rates does not seem appropriate as of now. This can be done in two rounds in the next 12 to 18 months and the first increase can be done in the next six months. He said, ‘Rate hike is inevitable. Telecom spending for consumers is moderately low and rates can be increased in the next six months. I am not saying that it will happen, but the sooner is the better.

He said, ‘Companies will also have to think about the economic situation and economy, but to ensure that the market remains stable, the rates can be increased twice in 12 to 18 months and the first increase in the next six months.
