If you want to withdraw a Rs 2,000 note from an ATM, you will not be able to do so now. The process of removing racks of Rs 2,000 notes from around 2,40,000 ATMs across the country has started. Now a tray of 500, 200 and 100 rupee notes will be present in every machine. According to sources, out of the 4 trays present in the ATM, three Rs 500 notes will be kept and the remaining 1 will get 100 or 200 rupee notes.
According to Business Standard report, this process will be completed in the next few months. Let me tell you that recently, the Indian bank of the public sector had issued an order not to insert Rs 2,000 notes in all its 3,000 ATMs. The bank’s argument was that after withdrawing 2,000 rupee notes from the ATM, people come to the bank branches for small notes, causing a huge rush.
However, removing the Rs 2,000 notes from the ATM will not affect the common people. 2,000 rupee notes will be valid as before. According to sources, the government is slowly preparing to remove these notes from circulation.
