New Delhi: This is the second consecutive year when the automobile sector is going through a bad phase. In the year 2019, where this sector was reeling from the economic downturn, now in the new year 2020, it succumbed to the corona virus.
India’s automobile sector has also been deeply hurt by the fierce corona virus spreading in China. Talk about two-wheeler manufacturers, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company on Monday said that this time in February their sales fell more than 10 percent compared to a year ago.
It is being told that due to the outbreak of Coronavirus infectious disease in China, the supply chain of spare parts of vehicles with BS6 (BS-6) fuel emission standard has been affected. Sales of Suzuki Motorcycle India and Royal Enfield showed modest growth.
According to the company’s statements, Hero MotoCorp sales declined by 19.27 percent to 4,98,242 units from February last year. Hero sold 6,17,215 vehicles in February 2019. The company sold 4,79,310 motorcycles last month, down 14.23 percent from 5,58,884 units sold in February last year. Sales of Hero scooters have also fallen drastically by 67.54 per cent. This figure has come down to 18,932 units.
Bajaj Auto sales fell 10 percent to 3,54,913 units. In this, domestic sales fell 24 per cent to 1,68,747 units. Whereas in February last year the figure was 2,21,706.
The car market has also seen declining figures. Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s sales fell 9.1 percent to 11,356 units. In this, sales in the domestic market declined by 11.9 percent to 11,760.
