    Nifty sees third straight day of gains

    Mumbai: Benchmark indices ended the day higher for the third straight day, as US Dow Futures were pointing to higher openings of at least 1 per cent for the US markets.

    The Sensex ended the day higher to close at 34,199 points, while the Nifty ended the day higher by 66 points. Among the top gainers from the Nifty were Bajaj group stocks like Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance. Among the other Nifty gainers were Vedanta and Coal India.

    Shares in ICICI Bank were up for the third straight day, even as the bank said it had divested 1.5% stake in ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company.

    Ship building and ship repair company, Cochin Shipyards saw its shares price rise 3 per cent after the company reported a net profit of Rs 137 crore for the quarter ending March, 30, 2020 a 44% growth compared to the same quarter last year.

    Meanwhile, the Indian rupee closed the day with gains, tracking positive cues in the equity markets. The currency ended at 76.02 against the U.S. Dollar as compared to Friday’s close of 76.18.
