New Delhi: Irda, the insurance sector regulator, has now allowed general and health insurance companies to issue policies in electronic form. Giving this information on Friday, a senior official of IRDA said that in future, the policy of issuing insurance policy in electronic form will be made. TL Alamelu, a non-life insurance member of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA), said in an industry event that a lot needs to be done in the case of policy holders and other stakeholders in the insurance sector.

He said that as far as the regulator is concerned, a lot of work has yet to be done. They are constantly looking at what needs to be done, not only for the policy holders but they are also looking into the matter of all parties related to the insurance sector. Some of the steps that we have taken are related to the health insurance sector.

Addressing the ‘National E-Summit Health Insurance under Covid Attack’ organized by industry body Assocham, Alamelu said that you all may have seen yesterday that they are now allowing insurance companies to issue e-policies as a proposal. . They believe that it is the need of the hour. Gradually, there will be a working environment between intermediate units, agents and policy holders by staying away. We must adopt such a system at the earliest, where this new rule will be made.
