“Importance of Amalgamation of Banks in Indian Economy” was the theme of recently organised the third All India Hindi Seminar 2019 in Kolkata. Ms Anuradha Mitra, Secretary, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi inaugurated the seminar as chief guest which was presided over by Shri M K Bhattacharya, Executive Director of Indian Bank. The seminar was attended by top management and the senior executives of the banking industry apart from many officials of public sector and other organisations from Kolkata.
Indian Bank with the objective of taking Hindi to the nook and the corner of the nation is organising such Hindi seminars at various locations every year, making it ‘jan-jan ki bhasha’ (Common man’s language).
The seminar was attended by the top management of the Banking industry Shri Atul Kumar Goyal, MD & CEO, UCO Bank and Chairman, Town Official Language Implementation Committee(TOLIC) Banks, Kolkata, Shri P R Rajgopal, Executive Director, Allahabad Bank, Shri Shailesh Kumar, Joint Director (OL), Department of Financial Services, Shri P C Dash, General Manager (HRM/ OL), Indian Bank and Dr B P Singh, AGM (OL), Indian Bank. Dr. (Prof.) Amarnath Sharma and Dr. (Prof.) Ram Prahlad Choudhary of Calcutta University were also present to grace the seminar.
Chief Guest Ms Anuradha Mitra, in her address, praised Indian Bank for organising the All India Hindi Seminar and said that such seminars help in reviewing the efforts made on promoting the Official Language. She hoped that after amalgamation the bank will have deep penetration to the general public and it will continue spreading Hindi language. She also said that Public Sector Banks have larger responsibility to implement the use of Official language apart from commercial activities.
Shri M K Bhattacharya, Executive Director, Indian bank in his address said that the bank is successfully implementing Hindi with the banking technological initiatives by offering online services, Bilingual website and multilingual mobile app, IND PAY. He further added that Indian Bank is a multi-culture organisation and performing very well in ‘C’ region and will continue to put efforts in increasing the customer experience. He said that Bank is committed to propagate Hindi.
Shri P C Dash, General Manager (HRM/ OL) Indian Bank said that the bank is organising the seminar in various parts of India to propagate the use of Hindi. He said that earlier the bank has organised national level Hindi seminars at Bhopal and Thiruvanthapuram. He thanked the Department of Official Language for introducing various glossaries which has helped in implementation of Hindi. He also said that Hindi always had a special place in banking and its importance will reach greater heights after the amalgamation. With the help of Hindi language, the Bank will reach to a larger network for the best banking services to the common man in future. He assured the gathering that Indian Bank will continue to strive for the wider reach in offering quality services to the nation.
Indian Bank house journal, IND CHHAVI, December 2019 and various Hindi magazines were released on this occasion. Also, the winners of the Essay writing competition were given prizes and awards. The seminar concluded with the Hasya Kavi Sammelan.
