Mumbai: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has said that India is poised to become a ‘major digital society’. With this, he expressed confidence that India will soon be among the top three economies of the world.
Addressing the ‘Future Decoded CEO Conference’ held on Monday on the occasion of Microsoft Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella’s visit to India, Ambani said that mobile network expansion is playing a major role in this major change. It is working more quickly than before.
Ambani said, “It started in 2014 with the Prime Minister’s vision of Digital India. 38 crore people are now using Jio’s 4G technology. “He said that before Jio the speed of data was 256 kbps. After Jio it has reached 21 Mbps.
Referring to US President Donald Trump’s visit to India, Ambani said that the India he would see today would be different from what his predecessors Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton or Barack Obama had seen in India.
Ambani said that mobile ‘connectivity’ is a big change. The head of Reliance Industries said, “There is no doubt in my mind that we will be in the top three economies of the world.” He said that there is only scope for debate on this in five years. Or in ten years. He said that in India we have the opportunity to become a major digital society. Ambani pointed to Nadella and said that the next generation would see a very different India. It will be different from the India in which you and I grew up.
