New Delhi: The process of income tax return filing has been put on hold for six days after the e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in was shut down. It has been stopped from midnight of 31 May 2021. The filing process will start again from June 7. The new e-filing website will be launched on June 6.

Along with this, a mobile app will also be developed, which will give access to all the main functions on the mobile network. All important features of this portal will be made available on the mobile app. There is no mobile app available in the current system.

The new e-filing portal will be integrated with quick processing of income tax returns. This will enable the taxpayers to get the benefit of the refund immediately.

A new single dashboard will be found in the new e-filing portal. The dashboard will show all the uploads etc pending actions for further follow-up.

In this, taxpayers will get free offline and online ITR preparation software. The software will have interactive questions, which will help taxpayers to reduce the labor involved in data entry while pre-filing of returns and filing ITR.

The website includes call centers, tutorials, videos and systems such as chatbots or live agents, to solve the problems of taxpayers. A new call center will be set up to address the queries of taxpayers.
