Hyundai Motors has launched its first electric minibus. The bus is named County Electric. This electric bus from Hyundai will be economical and environmentally friendly as compared to diesel-powered buses. This minibus is currently available for the Korean market.
This Hyundai minibus has a 128-kWh high power lithium-ion-polymer battery. Once fully charged, the bus travels 250 km.
The bus can be fully charged in 72 minutes through the standard Combo 1 DC system. At the same time, the battery of the bus can be charged in 17 hours through ordinary 220V power coming into the house.
This bus comes with 15 to 33 seats. It has an air-over-hydraulic (AOH) brake system with electric control. According to the company, running at speeds of 50 to 80 kilometers per hour, this electric bus gives 30 percent faster acceleration than a diesel engine.
The latest safety technology has been provided to prevent accidents during boarding and landing of the bus. An ultrasonic sensor located near the middle of the bus has been given which does not allow the doors to be closed in case of a passenger.
The use of electric motors instead of diesel engines gives the bus a lot of space. Seeing the demand for electric vehicles, Hyundai has also made a move towards green energy.
