Due to coronavirus, many companies have opted to work from home to help reduce the pandemic and safeguard their employees from health concerns.
As the employees have set up their tech tools, defined their work procedures and logged into their video conference accounts, the next thing business leaders have to do is to ensure the employees stay motivated in the current work arrangement.
Here are some tips to help your employees give their best through remote work:
1) Empower your employees to explore and solve work-related problems. For example, instead of you dictating them what work has to be done for the day, encourage them to come up with interesting ideas on how as a company better services can be delivered to your customers, how to improve team growth and how they can support each other as a team in the time of fear.
2) Now think about setting a daily and weekly routine for each employee as per the resources available to him or her. For example, your employee may complain of power-cuts every now and then which has led to the slowdown of his work. Some employees may have small children or old sick parents to manage while delivering their work. So, encourage your employees to look after each of his problem and come up with the best possible solution. In this time of crisis, be flexible to experiment with new ways of working. It’s okay to err too. Such small caring acts will motivate the employees to perform better.
3) Create a work calendar as per your business needs. For example, on Monday, you can conduct a performance cycle meeting for the team. From Tuesday to Thursday, connect with the team members on WhatsApp or Slack. On Friday, focus on taking inputs of the work completed and pending in the week. Give them a Saturday-Sunday off to ensure your employees can meet their family needs and demands as well. Balancing both personal and professional life is the key to success in both lives.
