New Delhi: The deadline for filing the annual Goods and Services Tax (GST) return for the financial year 2018-19 has been extended by two months. The government said on Saturday that now the annual GST return for 2018-19 can be filled by December 31.

The government had earlier extended the GST return filing time to 31 October 2020 last month. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said in a statement that the government was being sought to extend the deadline for filling the annual GST Return (GSTR-9) and Statement of Match (GSTR-9C) for FY 2018-19. .

He said that due to the corona virus epidemic and the lockdown and various restrictions imposed for its prevention, it has not been possible to carry out normal operations in many parts of the country. There was a demand to extend the deadline on this basis. The CBIC said that it was requested to extend the deadline from October 31, 2020 to enable businesses and auditors to comply with these provisions.
