New Delhi: Market capitalization of five of the top 10 Sensex companies increased by Rs 1,63,795.48 crore last week. Reliance Industries benefited the most. Apart from Reliance, the market capitalization of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, Infosys and Kotak Mahindra Bank also increased in the week ended on Friday.
Hindustan Unilever Limited, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, ITC and ICICI Bank suffered losses in the market valuation. The market capitalization of Reliance Industries increased by Rs 1,21,904.63 crore to Rs 8,98,499.89 crore during the week. The main reason for this is the announcement of huge investment in Reliance Jio by Facebook on 22 April. Facebook has announced to buy a 10 percent stake in ‘Jio Platform’ by investing $ 5.7 billion (about Rs 43,574 crore).
HDFC Bank’s market capitalization rose by Rs 14,941.95 crore to Rs 5,14,140.35 crore, Infosys increased by Rs 12,351.08 crore to Rs 2,80,369.48 crore, Kotak Mahindra Bank rose Rs 10,282.58 crore to Rs 2,37,255.01 crore and TCS increased by Rs 4,315.24 crore. 6,82,296.11 crore reached. On the other hand, ICICI Bank’s market valuation declined by Rs 26,571.92 crore to Rs 2,16,778.54 crore.
Similarly, the market capitalization of Hindustan Unilever fell by Rs 21,983.99 crore to Rs 4,94,212.28 crore, HDFC fell by Rs 17,502.34 crore to Rs 2,73,550.94 crore, ITC fell by Rs 9,956.71 crore to Rs 2,21,260.16 crore and Bharti Airtel fell by Rs 4,309.89 crore. 69,695.48 crore came to Rs. Reliance Industries continued to top the list of top ten companies in terms of market capitalization. This was followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ITC and ICICI Bank respectively. The 30-share BSE Sensex lost 261.50 points or 0.82 percent in the previous week.
