New Delhi: India is ready to adopt the cleanest petrol-diesel and from April 1, the supply of fuels compatible with the new emission standard Bharat stage-6 will begin.

A senior Indian Oil Corporation official has claimed this. India had decided to implement the Bharat Stage-6 standard directly from Bharat stage-IV to reduce vehicle emissions and is close to implementing it successfully in just three years. This will put India among the few countries where cleanest petrol and diesel are used.

Indian Oil chairman Sanjeev Singh said that almost all the refinery plants have started producing BS-6 compatible petrol and diesel by the end of 2019. Now petroleum companies have taken the initiative to shift the last drop of petrol and diesel from BS-6 standard fuel in the country.

“We are on the right track to supply BS-6 fuels from April 1,” Singh said. Almost all the refinery plants have started supplying BS-6 fuels and these fuels are reaching the depot across the country. ”He said that clean fuel reserves have also started reaching petrol pumps from the depot and in the next few weeks Only clean fuel will be available.

“We are absolutely confident that any petrol-diesel sold from April 1 at petrol pumps will be compliant with the BS-6 standard,” he said.
