New Delhi: On June 12, the GST Council will decide whether GST will be reduced on goods related to Kovid including cylinder oximeter, PPE kit, black fungus medicine, sanitizers. In the last council meeting on May 28, it was recommended to cut GST on PPE kits, masks, vaccines. The report of the Group of Ministers formed in this regard was submitted on 7 June. Based on this, on June 12, a decision will be taken to reduce the GST rate on items like PE kits, masks, vaccines, medical grade oxygen, pulse oximeters, hand sanitizers, concentrators, ventilators, surgical masks. Apart from this, the council may also consider reducing GST on the Kovid vaccine, medicines and testing kits used in the treatment of Kovid.

The issue of tax deduction on Kovid-19 vaccine and medical supplies remained unresolved in the GST Council meeting on 28 May. There was a dispute in the meeting whether the common man would get the benefit of GST cut or not. The matter could not be resolved between the BJP and the ministers of the opposition-ruled state on this issue. However, GST was removed on the import of amphotericin B, a drug used to treat black fungus.
