60KM driving range and price of just Rs 35,000
The demand for electric vehicles is continuously increasing in the Indian market, especially in the electric scooter segment, many giants have made their presence known. Recently, the country’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto also introduced its new Chetak electric scooter in the market. Now the company is preparing to bring the lowest price electric scooter in the country market.
Actually, Bajaj Auto is working on a single seater electric scooter. In November last year, the company bought an 8 million dollar stake in start-up company Yulu. Now the company is manufacturing this electric scooter for this start up company. Bajaj will supply this electric scooter to this start up company. This is the first time that Bajaj Auto has invested in a start up company. It is reported that the company will launch this Yulu electric scooter at a lower price.
Yulu co-founder and CEO Amit Gupta told the media that, we are preparing an electric scooter that will be manufactured in China and assembled in India. He told that, we will spend about $ 600 on this scooter which will be equal to about 40,000 rupees. But after Bajaj Auto in operation, this scooter can be manufactured at a cost of $ 500, after which it will be expected to be priced below Rs 35,000.
Scooter driving range: Yulu electric scooter uses 48V motor, which can run at a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour. Apart from this, this scooter offers a driving range of up to 60 kilometers in single charge. The most important thing is that to run this electric scooter you will not even need a driving license.
Currently, the company is working on the electric scooter, and when it will be launched for sale. No information could be found about it yet. Experts believe that it can be offered for sale in the market by next year. Recently, the company has launched Bajaj Chetak Electric, whose base variant costs Rs 1 lakh and the premium variant costs Rs 1.15 lakh.
