Finance Desk – India’s Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently spoke in Parliament about artificial intelligence (AI) and jobs. He was answering a question from Kalyan Banerjee, a member of the All India Trinamool Congress. Mandaviya said that AI will not cause job losses in India, but will actually create new job opportunities.

He explained that in the past, when new technologies like the internet and computers were introduced, people were worried they would lead to fewer jobs. However, these technologies ended up creating more job opportunities instead. He believes the same will be true for AI.

Mandaviya also criticized the ongoing protests in West Bengal, saying they could discourage companies from investing there, which would affect job creation. He pointed out that West Bengal has a big population and should be attracting more investments.

Lastly, he mentioned that since the Modi government took over, the unemployment rate in India has decreased, and more people are working now compared to 2017-18.
