New Delhi:The regional airline Air Deccan is not able to withstand the pressure created due to the Corona virus crisis and has announced its closure. Also, he has sent all the employees on leave without pay. To deal with the Corona virus crisis, the government has imposed a 21-day ‘ban’ in the country. The aviation sector has been badly affected by this nationwide shutdown.
Air Deccan has become the first airline that has not been able to withstand this pressure. Air Deccan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Arun Kumar Singh said in an e-mail to employees that “the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed the closure of all commercial flights by 14 April due to current domestic and global issues”. . In such a situation, Air Deccan has no option but to shut down its operations till further notice. He said that I have to inform with a heavy heart that all permanent, temporary and contract employees of Air Deccan are being sent on leave without pay with immediate effect.
The Air Deccan fleet has four 18-seat Beechcraft aircraft. The airline operates on regional routes in Western India. The main airline center is Gujarat. Singh said in an e-mail, “Next week the management will hold a meeting with the department heads to continue some important positions. This will ensure that when the appropriate time comes, the airline can resume operations with limited efforts. He said that I personally assure you that when Deccan resumes operations under favorable conditions, then all the existing employees will be given a proposal to work in their current positions first.
