    Sales of car companies continue increases in the country!

    New Delhi: The last month of the year 2020 gave news of relief for car companies. Car sales figures in December 2020 suggest that companies are slowly gaining momentum. During December, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported a 20.2 percent increase in sales in December. At the same time, MG Motor sales grew by 33 percent and Toyota’s sales by 14 percent.

    According to the auto sales data released by the companies on Friday, Maruti Suzuki India sales rose 20.2 percent to 1,60,226 in December. The company said in a statement that the company had sold 1,33,296 cars in December last year. The company said that domestic sales grew 17.8 percent to 1,46,480 in December 2020. In 2019 December, this figure was 1,24,375 units.

    According to a statement issued by the company, in December 2020, sales of small cars like Alto and S-Preso increased by 4.4 percent to 24,927. This figure was 23,883 in the same period last year. Similarly, sales of compact vehicles like Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire increased by 18.2 percent to 77,641. However, sales of mid-size sedan Ciaz declined by 28.9 per cent to 1,270 units in December 2020. At the same time, the sales of utility T vehicles like Vitara Brezza, Escross and Ertiga jumped 8 per cent to 25,701 from 23,808 in December 2019.

    According to Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the company’s domestic sales grew 14 per cent to 7,487 in December 2020. It was 6,544 in the same period last year. Naveen Soni, senior vice-president, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), said, “With the end of the year, we are happy that its vehicle sales in December 2020 increased by 14 percent compared to the same period last year.” It is said that the orders of dealers are increasing rapidly and retailing (sales to customers) is also very encouraging.

    According to MG Motor India, its sales grew by 33 per cent to 4,010 units in December 2020 from 3,021 units in the year-ago period. The company last month sold 3,430 hectares, 458 Glosters and 122 ZS electric vehicles, said its Halol, Gujarat-based manufacturing plant would be closed for the first 10 days of January due to annual maintenance. Due to this, the company’s productions will be affected this month.
