New Delhi: The government has approved a production-based incentive scheme of Rs 18 thousand 100 crore to promote the manufacture of chemical batteries in the country.
In the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday, the Production Promotion Scheme ‘National Advanced Chemistry Battery Program’ was approved in the Union Cabinet. The scheme was proposed by the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries. The goal is to achieve the capacity to manufacture ‘suitable’ ACC batteries of 50 GW and 5 GW of OVs under the scheme. Giga hours means producing one billion watts of energy per hour in an hour. It costs Rs 18,100 crore.
After the meeting, Union Heavy Industries Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters here that ACC is the new generation of advanced storage technology, under which electricity can be secured as electro-chemical or chemical energy. When needed, it can be converted to electricity again. Consumer electronic goods, electric vehicles, advanced power grids, solar power, etc. require batteries. This consumer sector is expected to grow rapidly in the coming times. It is expected that battery technology will dominate some of the world’s largest developing regions.
