    House sales increased 23 percent in seven cities of the country

    New Delhi: During the last five months, there has been a boom in the sale of houses in the cities of the country. There has been a 23 per cent increase in house sales from January to May in seven major cities. In the first five months of 2020, 1,08,199 houses were sold but in the first five months of 2021, 1,32,818 houses were sold. Most of the houses were sold till 15 April 2021.

    According to a report by PropEquity, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, NCR and Pune grew by 16, 40, 39, 29 and 34 per cent respectively in the first five months of 2021 as compared to the first five months of 2020. Only Kolkata and NCR registered a decline of 11 and 20 per cent respectively. The biggest decline in the sale of houses in NCR was due to the lockdown and restrictions imposed due to the second wave of Corona. The sale of houses here suffered a setback due to the health emergency. Chennai and NCR were at the forefront of launches in the first five months of 2021. Here in the first five months of 2021 compared to 2020, there was a growth of 20 and 50 percent respectively in new launches. While Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, MMR and Pune registered a decline of 35, 28, 26, 31 and 23 per cent respectively in terms of new launches.
