Lucknow,: Bajaj Allianz General Insurance in collaboration with Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha today distributed 17 advanced life support ambulances in 17 cities as a part of the Company’s Saving Lives initiative. The Covid-19 pandemic, especially in its second wave, led to a crunch in healthcare facilities. The idea behind distributing ambulances is to make a sustainable contribution to healthcare facilities across locations. Thus, enabling appropriate care in the hours critical for saving lives.
These advanced life support ambulances have sufficient medical equipment to not only comfortably transport the patient, but also to provide appropriate critical medical care till the time the patient reaches the medical facility. These ambulances will be available in 17 cities namely, Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Delhi, Patna, Jammu, Lucknow, Indore, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Kochi, and Bhubaneswar. Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has tied up with select hospitals and hospital groups such as Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad, Poona Hospital in Pune, Guru Nanak Hospital in Mumbai who will run and maintain these ambulances.
Sharing his thoughts on this initiative, Mr. Tapan Singhel, MD & CEO, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance said, “The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us empathy, resilience, and more importantly brought us all together to support each other in these challenging times. I feel that it’s only when we unite all the forces and strength, can we fight this pandemic more effectively. With this thought in mind and to ensure quality healthcare facilities are available to people, we have procured 17 new ambulances and tied up with hospitals in 17 cities, who will run and maintain them. Our fight against this pandemic will continue and we will constantly work towards ensuring optimum care is provided to people in need. The endeavor is to save lives and make a difference to the society.”
Apart from the ambulances, in order to ensure that appropriate medical care is available, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has created a Covid-19 helpline feature in its app for employees, which is a repository of verified information on healthcare services across the country, crucial at the time of the pandemic. This repository has been collated by the Company employees and Health Administration Team and contains resources such as availability of oxygen cylinders and concentrators, Covid-19 home care solutions, availability of critical medicines, Covid-19 hospitals, etc. which can be accessed by employees through the Company’s mobile app. Considering that there was a shortage of oxygen supply when the second wave of the pandemic was at its peak, the Company also procured and deployed 36 oxygen concentrators. The Company has also provided access to Doctor 24*7 app wherein employees and agents can connect with a doctor on call for free consultation across 10 specializations. In order to fight against the impact of this pandemic, there’s an ongoing vaccination drive across the country for all employees and their dependents. Moreover, the Company is covering the vaccination cost for active agents and their dependents too.
Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has been working towards providing necessary support to its employees by fully funding their Covid-19 treatment costs irrespective of the medical insurance cover, providing them unlimited Covid-19 leave to help them recuperate faster and an enhanced life insurance cover amongst various other initiatives. In order to support the families of deceased employees, the Company introduced a family assistance program which provides fixed ex-gratia support for 2 years, education allowance for up to 2 children till their graduation and extending the group medical cover of the deceased employee to spouse and children to 5 years.
Saving lives initiative, as the name suggests, is a program to save lives of people in challenging times brought about due to the pandemic and to support those in need in the quickest possible time.
